The 2nd annual Book Swap was held on January 24th. Over 700 books were turned in and students had a wonderful time shopping for “new” books to take home. Books that were left over were donated to classroom reading collections. Thank you to all who participated. In media classes, the 4th and 5th grade students are learning research skills by writing reports on a foreign country of the students’ choice. We have taken notes using books and encyclopedias and will begin writing a rough draft during February. When the final drafts are completed on the computers, the reports will be given to the students’ homeroom teachers to be used for a writing grade. If you have a child in one of these grades, ask him/her what they have learned so far about their country.
Surf’s Up! Students in K-grade 2 will enjoy visiting Starfall (www.starfall.com). There are a variety of early reading activities and many have accompanying sound.

Brrrrr it’s cold out there! Second grade teachers would like to remind parents to send coats, gloves, hats, etc. with their children for recess. Thank you! Mrs. Kephart, Mrs. Koski and Miss Webster |
